Impacted Wisdom Teeth Extraction in Turkey
Impacted Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth turkey can show themselves with various symptoms at an advanced age, negatively affecting the quality of life. Although pain is the most common symptom of wisdom teeth, bad breath and gum problems may accompany these symptoms. Wisdom teeth turkey, which can be visualized by methods such as panoramic x-rays or tomography, can be surgically removed by specialist physicians in order to eliminate the existing symptoms and increase the comfort of life.
What Is A Wisdom Tooth?
The development of primary teeth, which are 20 in total, 10 at the top and bottom, starts in the 6th month of infancy and continues until the age of 3. By the age of 9-10, deciduous teeth fall out and adult teeth begin to erupt.
During childhood and adolescence, 28 of the adult teeth, which should be 32 in total, complete their development.
The wisdom teeth, which can be described as 4 molars, cannot complete their development in a healthy way and remain impacted because they cannot find a suitable area where they can erupt.
In other words, wisdom teeth are the molars located on both sides of the jaw at the very end of the tooth alignment in the mouth. Expected to erupt between 18 and 25 years of age, the main reason why these teeth remain embedded in the jawbone is that they cannot find an area where they can erupt properly. These teeth are called wisdom teeth because they cause various symptoms, especially in the 20s when they tend to erupt.
The main symptom of impacted teeth that cannot develop in a healthy way is pain.
Because these teeth cannot progress as they should, they both damage other teeth and compress the gums in the mouth. On the other hand, since these impacted teeth cannot be cleaned like other teeth, they are also prone to infection. Therefore, wisdom teeth need to be extracted or surgically removed.
Why do Wisdom Teeth Remain Impacted?
According to anthropologists, the changing dietary habits of people over the years may have caused the jaw bones to shrink and the wisdom teeth to fail to complete their development in the jaw in a healthy way. In addition, due to the different anatomical structures of the parents, the child may have a small jaw structure from one parent and a large tooth structure from the other, which may cause the wisdom teeth to remain impacted.
To date, there are many ideas about why wisdom teeth remain impacted. Some of these thoughts are as follows:
- Genetic incompatibilities,
- Eating habits,
- Infections in the jaw,
- Early loss of milk teeth,
- Cysts and similar pathological formations.
Wisdom teeth do not always present themselves with severe symptoms and do not always require intervention. Some people can go through life without their wisdom teeth erupting and without these impacted wisdom teeth causing them any problems.
Why Should a Wisdom Tooth Extracted?
Toothache, which negatively affects the comfort of life, is the main factor in wisdom teeth extraction.
The pain in question may develop due to decay in wisdom teeth, or in the absence of decay, it may be caused by the pressure of wisdom teeth on the front teeth.
Failure to extract wisdom teeth can lead to many problems ranging from erosion of tooth roots to abscess formation, from jawbone cysts to tooth loss.
It is possible to list the common problems that make it necessary to extract wisdom teeth as follows:
- Headache,
- Gum sensitivity that negatively affects eating and drinking habits,
- Bad breath that creates problems in relationships,
- Pain radiating to the jaw and ear area,
- Swelling of the lymph nodes,
- Crowding of the front teeth,
- Infection if part of the impacted tooth is covered by gum,
- Swelling in the face area,
- Difficulty opening the jaw.
These conditions, which develop due to non-extraction of wisdom teeth, not only affect the comfort of life, but can also cause social and professional problems due to lack of self-confidence.

How to Extract a Wisdom Tooth?
To decide whether wisdom teeth should be extracted or surgically removed, imaging techniques such as panoramic x-rays or tomography are used. If the wisdom tooth is covered with gum or the tooth roots are embedded in the jawbone, it is not possible to extract the tooth in one piece:
The tooth is cut into several pieces and extracted in this way,
An incision is made on the gum and the wisdom tooth is removed.
If the wisdom tooth is removed by making an incision on the gum, the roots are cleaned and the operation is terminated by suturing the area. This operation is performed under local anesthesia and the duration of the operation may vary depending on the location of the wisdom tooth or the number of wisdom teeth to be extracted.
Things to Consider After The Operation
As after every operation, there are some important points that patients should know and pay attention to during the healing process after wisdom tooth surgery. It is possible to list these points as follows:
- It is considered to normal to leak blood for a certain period of time after surgery,
- In order to ensure coagulation in the operation area, food and fluid intake should not be performed for the period specified by the physician,
- Swelling in the operation area is considered to normal,
- Painkillers prescribed by the physician can be used to relieve severe pain after the operation,
- Once food intake has started, the other side of the mouth should be used,
- The operation area should not be touched by hand or tongue,
- Smoking should be avoided for the first 24 hours after the operation,
- In case of swelling on the face, ice can be applied.
In cases where wisdom teeth begin to show various symptoms, it is of great importance to get support from a specialist in the field to rebuild the comfort of life.
